Finally we have made it to Oz, still trekking the yellow brick road up the east coast by coach, but can't tell you how excited I am to be here. I have wanted to travel all my life and love experiencing new cultures. So far we have seen Singapore and Sydney. Staying in a hostel for the first time has been quite an experience, I have learnt that I can adjust far more easily than I predicted. Sharing a bathroom was the hardest and sleeping in an old bunk bed. Apart from the obvious though it wasn't actually that bad. The people are reasonably friendly if you smile enough and they had all the necessary facilities including iron, washing machine, restaurant, wifi and study lounge, cafe and nightclub. I have to admit i was disappointed with the level of cleanliness in Sydney and the population of homeless people who can be very rude and intimidating. Be careful if walking through the city on your own, or kings cross (more later).
The botanical gardens are gorgeous, I would recommend spending a least a day there just soaking up the scenery. There are thousands of bats in the trees, kind of spooky but very intriguing, especially at night when they take flight...
hey this blogs great
