Wardrobe Clear-out Day!

One thing is for sure, I am not a fan of throwing clothes or shoes away. However, there comes a time, usually once every year, that a girl has to filter out the 'unwearable'.

This is the word I use to define pieces I have purchased and either never worn or will never wear again. More importantly, I use it define pieces I should never wear again unless someone offers to pay me a substantial 'dare' fee.

A fine example would be my jean collection. Like most people I have only a select few pairs which I wear to death, when they become too worn I simply purchase a new similar pair. Over the years I have learnt which styles suit me. On occasion I have made a purchase based on price, which is awful I know, but we have all done it. I have two pairs of Tommy Hilfiger Jeans which were on sale and fit perfect around the hips but drowned me in length. I didn't have a tailor back then so I thought I would wait to wear them until I can have them altered. Now I have the perfect tailor the jeans are quite out of date. Hence, they are the first to go!

I have decided firstly to make a list of the must have staple pieces every wardrobe should hold, I am confident that the rest will come together naturally. The easiest way to clear out the unwearable is to purchase replacements or staples first.

The LIST:

Black jeans (Skinny or straight legged depending on your figure/height)

Natural blue jeans - not over dyed or bleached (skinny/straight fit)

White shirt (either silk or boyfriend style in cotton)

Pencil skirt (no longer/shorter than knee length- in a thick, not too stretchy fabric)
- This could also have slight directional slit to the front or back

Structured blazer (One in a dark hue and another in a nude or neutral)

LBD (Of course- this should be a fail safe for any occasion so make sure it's the perfect fit)

Knitted pullover

Vest tops with thick straps in black, white, red and ivory

Flat patent brogues or loafers

Converse (below ankle)
